The Queensland Centre for Japanese Language and Studies (QCJLS), previously known as the Queensland Program for Japanese Education (QPJE) was established in March 1997 under an Agreement between The Nippon Foundation and The University of Queensland and Griffith University.

The QCJLS offers a range of grant programs to support Japanese language education and Japanese studies in Queensland and the Northern Territory. It is part of the wider Nippon Foundation Fund for Japanese Language Education Program (NF JLEP) community, which currently includes 11 universities around the world.

The aim of NF JLEP is to promote the study and teaching of the Japanese language in overseas countries.
